Overview
Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) is a premier independent, nonprofit applied research and development organization headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. Established in 1947, SwRI operates on a more than 1,500-acre campus with over 2.5 million square feet of advanced laboratories and test facilities. SwRI’s expertise spans “from deep see to deep space” organized into multiple technical divisions, including Space Science & Engineering, Automotive & Transportation, Energy & Environment, Biomedical & Health, and Defense & Intelligent Systems.
During the SwRI Tour, attendees will have a brief introduction to the Institute and its development and testing capabilities in many areas of science. The facilities tour includes laboratories where space instruments are built, integrated, and tested. Visitors will tour laboratories where payloads are integrated, as well as the Energy Center, where advanced battery technologies are evaluated.
